Lisa Sumida

Director, Plan Consulting & Acquisition Support

Lisa Sumida joined Compass Financial Partners in August 2023 as Director, Plan Consulting & Acquisition Support. Lisa brings a passion for all things ERISA to her role at Compass where she will partner with plan sponsors, record keepers and other providers to help manage fiduciary responsibilities ensuring client's plans are set up with industry best-practice design features and are updated for new legislation and compliant with ERISA regulations.

Lisa has over 23 years of experience in the retirement plans industry. She has worked directly with plan sponsors, participants, record keepers, and broker dealers over the years focusing on ERISA compliance. She has performed annual non-discrimination testing, filed plan's 5500s, helped with large and complex corrections, supported plan sponsors through mergers and acquisitions, and updated plan documents for new legislation and required restatements. Lisa has also spent numerous years being a department trainer, mentor, and 401(k) education specialist. Most recently, she worked as a Retirement Consulting Manager at Guideline, Inc. where she lead a group of Retirement Specialists who helped the client facing teams support over 40,000 small businesses ensuring their employees could access quality retirement plans.

Lisa has obtained her QKA, QKC, and TGPC designations through the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries. She grew up in Littleton, Colorado, graduated from Regis College with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Finance and minoring in Business Administration and was a member of Alpha Sigma Nu which is the Jesuit College and Universities national honor society.

Lisa still lives in Littleton Colorado with her husband Scott and their son Kyle. Lisa and her family enjoy camping, traveling with her son's lacrosse team all over the U.S. and Canada, and hanging out with their mini Aussie, Kya and their bearded dragon named Joe. You can usually find Lisa on the sideline of a lacrosse game, crocheting or baking macarons and cakes in her free time.
