Compass Financial Partners Recognized as a Finalist for the 2015 PLANSPONSOR Retirement Plan Adviser Team of the Year
Greensboro, NC - March, 2015 — Compass Financial Partners was honored to be recognized at the annual PLANSPONSOR/PLANADVISER Awards for Excellence celebration on Tuesday, March 31st in New York City as a Finalist for the 2015 PLANSPONSOR Retirement Plan Adviser Team of the Year Award. The event showcased the very best practices from the nation’s very best advisers, adviser teams, and multi-office teams, who—by their example—help set new standards for excellence in working with and advising workplace retirement plans. Compass Financial Partners was the only Firm in the Southeast to receive finalist recognition in the team category.
The 2015 PLANSPONSOR Retirement Plan Advisers of the Year finalists are men and women, teams, and nationwide firms who have demonstrated leadership and a commitment to excellence for their retirement plan sponsor clients and participants. This year in order to be selected as a finalist, advisers had to meet requirements, set by the PLANADVISER editorial and judging team, that reflect what is considered to be the evolving best practice standard. Advisers must: have a majority of their business revenue derived from employer-sponsored retirement plans; serve as an investment fiduciary to client plans; show a commitment to fee-based compensation; and use replacement rate or outcome-based metrics of plan success with clients, among other benchmarks.
In addition Compass Financial Partners was also named to the 2015 PLANADVISER Top 100 Retirement Plan Advisers listing. This year’s qualification standards - which rise nearly every year - have escalated considerably since 2014’s. Individuals had to either serve 105 or more plans or have at least $750 million in AUA; teams needed to advise at least $2.25 billion in assets or a minimum of 145 plans; and multi-office teams needed to oversee $10 billion in plan assets or 400 or more plans.
PLANADVISER Top 100
To become eligible for this annual listing—which is based on purely quantitative measures—advisers had to either submit information and references for their practice or be nominated and enter the awards process for the 2015 PLANSPONSOR Retirement Plan Adviser of the Year*—individual, team or multioffice team. Award nominations were solicited online from retirement plan advisers; their employers and/or broker/dealers (B/Ds); plan sponsors; and working partners of the advisers such as investment vendors, accountants, attorneys and pension administrators. Nominees were then asked to complete a form to provide various details about their practice, some of which appear here. Advisers could also submit such information unsolicited, although not as a means to be considered for the awards. The PLANADVISER Top 100 is drawn solely from a smaller set of quantitative variables and information supplied by the advisers themselves.
